Experienced PC repair.
Custom builds that last.

When the machine that runs your life — or your shop — dies, you want someone who’s been in the stack for decades, not a script at a big-box counter. David James brings thirty years of IT to the bench: repair, support, and machines built the right way the first time.

30+ years in IT Repair & support Custom & AI PCs
  1. REPAIR

PC repair that solves the real problem

Diagnostics, virus cleanup, hardware failure, slow machines, boot issues, Windows rebuilds — fixed with judgment, not parts roulette.

  2. BUILD

    Custom-built PCs

Home, office, gaming, and creator machines — parts chosen for the job, assembled and tested here. No mystery pre-builds with dead fans and bloatware.

  3. AI

    Custom-built AI PCs

Workstations for local LLMs, image models, and heavy compute — GPU, RAM, cooling, and storage sized for what you actually run, not a brochure SKU.

Who’s on the bench

David James — IT expert, not a rotation of temps

Thirty years in information technology. Director of Operations at an MSP. Founder of James Networks and AI for Missouri. Golden Bench is the hands-on hardware and repair practice under that network — the same person who designs workflows and AI systems also knows a dying drive from a bad power supply.

You get experience you can talk to. Straight answers when a machine isn’t worth fixing. Builds that match how you work — office, creative, gaming, or AI.

Custom built PCs

Everyday · office · gaming · creator

Quiet office towers, solid small-business workstations, gaming rigs that stay cool, and creator boxes with storage and GPU headroom. Balanced parts lists — no overspend on vanity components that don’t help you.

  • Use-case interview before any cart
  • Quality components, thermal headroom, clean cable work
  • Windows setup, drivers, updates, basic hardening
  • Data move from your old machine when needed
Custom built AI PCs

Local AI · models · heavy compute

Built for people who want models on their own hardware — chat, coding assistants, image generation, fine-tuning experiments, or farm/business AI tools that shouldn’t live entirely in the cloud.

  • GPU selection for VRAM and the models you care about
  • RAM, NVMe, and PSU sized for sustained load
  • Cooling that won’t throttle mid-run
  • Guidance on local stack options (you keep the keys)

Builds are quoted after we talk through budget and goals. Entry custom PCs and serious AI boxes live in different worlds — we’ll say so before you spend.

  • Diagnostics

Find the real failure — drive, power, board, heat, software — before you throw money at parts.

  • Virus & malware

Cleanup that sticks: hijacks, scareware, bloat, and a pass so it doesn’t invite the same junk back tomorrow.

  • Slow computers

Startup bloat, dying storage, thermal throttle, and Windows baggage that makes a good PC feel old.

  • Hardware & upgrades

SSD, RAM, power supplies, fans — installed clean, tested, with the receipt for parts.

  • Windows rebuilds

Clean installs, data preserved when we can, updates and drivers so you’re productive again.

  • Home & small business

Printers, Wi‑Fi, email, backups that actually run, new PC setup — the stuff that stops a day cold.

FAQ

Quick answers

What’s a custom AI PC vs a regular custom PC?

A regular build is sized for office, web, gaming, or creative work. An AI PC prioritizes GPU VRAM, system RAM, power, and cooling for running large models locally — different bill of materials and different budget. We design either from the workload, not from a marketing label.

Do you sell off-the-shelf brand boxes?

We build to order. If a simple store machine is enough for light email and browsing, we’ll say so — no pressure to overbuy.

Is repair worth it on an old computer?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. After diagnostic you’ll get a straight call: fix, upgrade, or put that money toward a build.

Do you work on Macs?

Software cleanup and data help, yes. Sealed modern Mac hardware is often best left to Apple-authorized shops — we’ll tell you when that’s the case.

Where are you based?

Clinton, Missouri — Henry County / Golden Valley. Remote help when it fits; in-person for hardware and builds.

How do I get on the schedule?

Use the form or email. Work is by appointment (no retail walk-ins) so each job gets proper time on the bench.
